Anti-tank barriers Chodov

Hastily built barricades by Praguers in the city centre and peripheries were the major symbols of the Prague Uprising. This was significantly supported by radio broadcast appeals (Czech radio). Records in the Barricade File from the mid-1960s reveal that at least 2,058 barricades were erected within Greater Prague.

While this phenomenon gained public awareness in connection with the resistance of the Prague insurgents, its counterpart, in the form of anti-tank barriers on the city peripheries, also arose from the initiative of German military units (Chodov, Čakovice, Ďáblice).

In Chodov, in a relatively small area, one could thus encounter both an insurgents’ barricade and anti-tank barriers placed by the German army in front of the Sokol Gym.
